Stonebeard (C64)

The dwarf village of Hammerhalt lives off its mine. For a year the mountain has been shaking. The Great Rumbles cause cave-ins every night, and the young miners won’t go below the first shaft anymore. Old Brokk Stonebeard knows the legend from his grandfather. Deep under the mine lie the sealed halls of the ancestors, and in them sits the Heartstone, the rune-stone that “keeps the mountain asleep.” A long time ago it was broken into four Rune Shards, and each shard was hidden at a different depth.

Brokk takes his pickaxe and his lamp and heads down. He digs gems to pay for lamp oil and to keep the village fed. On the way he finds old relics of his ancestors. Each relic gives him a skill he needs to go deeper.
